Once again Ann and I are stoked to find that our “Dark Age Dawning” trilogy–in this case, December’s DAYBREAK–has been honored by RT Book Reviews with a 4 1/2 Stars Top Pick review!
The dynamite duo of Ann Aguirre and Carrie Lofty (aka Connor) conclude their post-apocalyptic Dark Age Dawning trilogy by unleashing an unforgettable tale packed with treachery, betrayal and hope. A crisp storytelling style keeps the pace moving, and there’s lots of emotional resonance. An outstanding capper to a terrific series, here’s hoping these two talents join forces again.
We’ve been so lucky that all three novels have been highly regarded! We hope you enjoy enjoy Tru and Pen’s story, and the conclusion of the trilogy!
Ann and I are always stoked when people enjoy our “Dark Age Dawning” series. We knew it was sort of “out there” when we began writing, which makes it all the more gratifying to see that we have an audience! MIDNIGHT is out now, and we just finished up the last touches on DAYBREAK (December). In the meantime, check out what RT Magazine and Barnes & Noble have been saying about the second book in the series.
The immediacy of the action and the uniqueness of the hero and heroine are not only exciting but compelling. The language pops and the action electrifies. And through it all the romance is interwoven and vital. This is a series that has taken hold of my imagination and won’t let go and is definitely a recommended read.
So cool! Readers, we hope you enjoy the ride!
Ann and I are both big fans of RT Book Reviews, and we can’t wait to see everyone at the RT Booklovers Convention in Chicago next April. Until then, we’ll bask in the glow of these two back-to-back 4 1/2 Star Top Pick reviews!
Writing as Ellen Connor, Ann Aguirre and Carrie Lofty join forces to create a chilling, post-apocalyptic series, Dark Age Dawning. Frighteningly intense in its depiction of the struggle to survive in a world run amok, there’s edge-of-your-seat thrills mingled with supernatural forces, giving rise to a dangerous and passionate story.
For MIDNIGHT, coming September 6:
The middle book in Connor’s (aka Ann Aguirre & Carrie Lofty) post-apocalyptic trilogy revisits the world three years after the initial horrific Change. Chris Welsh was a secondary player in the first novel, but it is his exploits that are now examined. The authors’ writing styles blend together seamlessly, bringing forth a dark tale of endurance that manages to hang on to a flame of hope. A bare-knuckle struggle for survival gives this intense story poignancy and a gritty realism.
Shall we root for a third fantastic review for DAYBREAK, due out in December? Hell yeah! Go Ellen, go!
Oh, and All About Romance dug NIGHTFALL too. This just in:
With Nightfall, Ellen Connor kicks off an apocalyptic romance trilogy which, if this first book is anything to go by, looks like quite the inspired collaboration. This book features unusual and vivid world building, paired with a good, steamy romance. In addition, the authors aren’t afraid to take risks in presenting a story of love and hope set against a truly dangerous, bleak world.
We love it. It’s beyond perfection.
The cover and the back copy are both official, which is super exciting here at the Ellen Connor camp. What, you didn’t know we have a camp? S’mores all around! Enjoy…
Their instincts will save them.
Their passion will transform them.
Growing up with an unstable, often absent father who preached about the end of the world, Jenna never thought, in her wildest nightmares, that his predictions would come true. Or that he would have a plan in place to save her–one that includes the strong, stoic man who kidnaps and takes her to a remote cabin in the Pacific Northwest.
The mysterious ex-Marine named Mason owes a life-debt to Jenna’s father. Skilled and steadfast, he’s ready for the Change, but Jenna proves tough to convince. Until the power grid collapses and the mutant dogs attack–vicious things that reek of nature gone wrong.
When five strangers appear, desperate to escape the bloodthirsty packs, Jenna defies her protector and rescues them. As technology fails and the old world falls away, Jenna changes too, forever altered by supernatural forces. To fight for their future, she and Mason must learn to trust their instinctive passion–a flame that will see them through the bitter winter, the endless nights, and the violence of a new Dark Age.
Remember, you can read the first chapter here.
It’s been a big week for Ellen Connor.
In addition to our RT feature, we also can tell you that our books will be coming out in trade through Berkley Sensation. After much contemplation, it has been agreed that these are romances, albeit dark, dangerous, different, and action-packed. If you prefer your romance on the edgy side, if you like the Ava Gray books, then you will probably enjoy Ellen Connor too. If you lean toward liking sweet romances best, then these may not be for you.
NIGHTFALL has a tentative June 2011 release date, with MIDNIGHT and DAYBREAK to follow in September and December, but that’s not sure by any means. When that’s firmed up, we will certainly post an update.
This week Ann and I were interviewed for the “Author Buzz” section of the RT Book Reviews website. Check out what we have to share about NIGHTFALL, our partnership, and the origins of the “DARK AGE DAWNING” trilogy.
Hi everyone. We’ve been fielding inquiries, so here’s the scoop. The books will be Ace or Berkley, but editors Anne Sowards & Cindy Hwang are still deciding if it’s UF or paranormal romance. We’ll be happy in either shelf. But we just turned in revisions on NIGHTFALL that should prompt a decision on imprint and release dates very soon.
In an exciting turn of events, we’ve sold the “DARK AGE DAWNING” trilogy to Germany already. This is big news and we’re thrilled about it. Stay tuned for more news! Meanwhile, check out the new excerpt.
So yes, we sold to Penguin. Three book deal. Details to follow.
